Auto insurance in general, which includes car insurance is an insurance consumers can purchase for cars, trucks, and other vehicles. Its mainly meant to provide protection against losses incurred as a result of car accidents and also thefts of vehicle. It also includes losses arising due to natural calamities. To have your car insured is mandatory by law. When you insure you get a policy which is based on a variety of factors including the type of car you drive, as well as what kind of insurance you want, as these policies are actually a package of different types of insurance coverage. They can be classified as:

? Liability This coverage pays for accidental physical injury of the body and damage to others property. Injury damages include medical expenses, pain or suffering and lost wages. Property damage includes damages to the automobile. This coverage also pays for defense and court costs. State laws fix how much liability coverage you must purchase, but you can also get more coverage if you wish.

? Collision This insurance pays for damages to your vehicle caused by collision with another vehicle or object.

? Comprehensive This coverage pays for losses or damages to the insured vehicle that doesnt occur in an auto accident. The possible types of damages comprehensive insurance covers include loss caused by fire, wind, hail, flood, vandalism or theft.

? Medical Coverage Pays medical expenses regardless of whose fault it was as long as the expenses are caused by an auto accident.

? PIP Personal Injury Protection (PIP) This coverage pays medical expenses for the insured driver, regardless of whose fault it was, for treatment due to injuries arising in an auto accident.

? Uninsured Motorist Pays for your cars damages when an auto accident is caused by another driver who doesnt have liability insurance.

? Underinsured Motorist Pays for your cars damages when an auto accident is caused by someone who has insufficient liability insurance to settle all your claims.

? Rental Reimbursement This type of insurance will pay for a rental car if your rented car is damaged due to an auto accident. Often this coverage has a daily allowance to be paid for at the time of renting a car.

Certain insurance policies club together a number of these types of coverage. Depending on the laws that exist in your state you have to choose the insurance you want for your car. Even though the state may not require extensive insurance, extra coverage may be worth the expense as it is possible that you may be straddled with thousands of dollars because of an auto accident.

Car Insurance can be simplified once you begin to understand the declarations page. The declarations page is issued every time your car policy renews. The information on your renewal declarations page will give you all you need to know about how your policy is rated. The actual policy is very complicated because it is written in legal language. The declarations page is a synopsis of your protection and is divided into sections.

Section I Liability This section indicates the bodily injury and property damage liability limits. This section of coverage protects you in the event that you are found liable in an automobile accident. Most car insurance policies have split limits. 100/300/50 is a common split limit. The first two limits are the bodily injury limits. The 100,000 refers to the amount per person bodily injury liability limit and 300,000 is the amount per accident limit. The third limit is the property damage liability limit of 50,000.

Tort Option Some states have a tort option. Full tort gives you an expanded right to sue for pain and suffering. Limited Tort limits that right and also reduces your overall premium.

Section II Physical Damage This section is all about the physical damage to your automobiles. It is divided into two basic benefits. Collision insurance covers damage to your vehicle in an automobile accident. Comprehensive insurance covers your vehicle for theft, hitting an animal, glass coverage, fire, and several other miscellaneous occurrences.

Section III First Part Benefits This section applies to the first party insured and all resident relatives. This can vary from state to state. Medical expense, income loss, and life insurance are examples of first party benefits.

Cost Savings Your greatest risk for financial loss is when you are liable in a car accident and so it is not wise to carry low limits for liability. Higher deductibles for collision and comprehensive are an excellent way to reduce costs. Make sure that your home policy is with the same company in order to qualify for the multiple policy discounts. The limited tort option can save you up to 20%. The tort discount is only available in some states.

.

Insurance premiums are calculated according to several risk factors. These are the factors identified by the insurance company as most likely to have an impact on the insured against risk occurring. Insurance is a significant cost associated with the item insured and should not be rushed into. It is always a good idea to shop around for the best price available. Insurance premiums will vary considerably from insurer to insurer so do your homework.

Shop Around

Look up the various insurance companies you are interested in and ask them for a quote. They can usually give you a rough estimate fairly quickly and even more exact quotes should also be possible if you provide more details and wait. You should also look up insurers online and get instant quotes from their website. This is a very fast and effective way of shopping around. You will get a good idea of what prices to expect. You can also experiment with the quotation websites to see what effect it makes to your premium price if you select different options. With all insurance policies you will have a number of options that affect the price of the policy.

Therefore you should think about these options and if there are risks that you do not wish to cover then let the insurer know as your premium should become cheaper.

You should also try to make sure you do not double insure. It is a principle of insurance that you cannot benefit from the insured events occurrence. So you cannot get paid twice even if you have two insurance policies. So if a risk is already covered by one policy, again let your insurer know so they can remove it from their calculation.

Factors

Car insurance premiums usually depend on factors such as what kind of car you are driving, how old it is, how big the engine is, what make and model it is? What type of insurance you require also plays a part, do you need only liability, or also comprehensive? What use you will make of the car, for example will you commute to work and how many miles do you plan on driving?

Your driving history will be a strong factor in determining your risk, and linked to this will be the age of the driver, with younger drivers being significantly more at risk of being involved in an accident. If you are young, your sex will also be an important risk factor, however if you are older sex usually becomes less significant.

We have all heard the saying about no pain and no gain. That can also be true when it comes to finding low cost car insurance. The average insurance buyer avoids most of the responsibility when it comes to purchasing car insurance. They rely heavily on the insurance professional or the insurance company. Sometimes that approach works out fine but there is a decided advantage to the buyer who is better informed when shopping for car insurance. Here are some of the things that you need to consider when shopping for car insurance.

Do I want an Agent? The agency system has been around a long time. The value of a good insurance professional is very high to a lot of people. They like having someone to counsel them on insurance. They dont like dealing over the telephone or the internet.

Insurance Company Once you decide on whether you want an agent or not then you can narrow down the field of insurance companies. You might want to select some familiar national names along with an independent agency.

All in One There is a good chance that you will find lower cost car insurance by combining all of your insurance with one company. The multiple policy discounts along with the convenience makes it worth you time to compare your auto, home and even your life insurance.

Insurance Coverage The shopping experience is a good time to get creative and ask a lot of questions about discounts and vehicle types. Question the need for coverage and buy what is most important to you.

Self Insuring The days of low deductibles are slowly vanishing. Low deductibles are expensive and not worth the out of pocket expense. Higher deductibles means you are self-insuring for the first $500 to $1000 on collision and or comprehensive. This will save you thousands of dollars over the lifetime of the policy.

Please see our recommended source for insurance quotes of all types. It is a site dedicated to quotes and is powered by Insure Me. Insure Me is the leading internet insurance quote provider. They are a broker of many insurance companies to give you the lowest rates.

If You Refuse To Pay High Insurance Rates? Here Are 7 Bargaining Chips you Can Use to Negotiate a Better Insurance Rate.

Lower Your Car Insurance Rate

Having a good driving record is one of the best ways to keep your car insurance rates down. Here are a few other ways to help lower your costs.

1.	Shop Around

Make companies compete for your business. Prices will vary from company to company. So, be sure to ask at least 3-4 different companies for a quote. Make them earn your business.

Talk to your friends, neighbors and coworkers about their insurance policies. If theyre happy with their insurance company there is a good chance you will be too.

There are dozens of companies on line willing to give you a free car insurance quote (like FreeCarInsuranceQuotes.org and CarInsurance.com). This may be a good starting place for you. Keep your eyes and ears open for radio and TV advertisements.

Again, these agencies are willing to compete for your business; so, dont settle.

2.	Ask For Higher Deductibles

Deductibles are what you pay before your insurance policy kicks in. By raising your deductible, you can lower your insurance rates significantly. For instance, raising your deductible from $250 to $500 can reduce your collision and comprehensive coverage 10-30 percent. Raising your deductible to a $1000 could save you as much as 40% or better.

Just be sure you have the cash on hand to cover yourself in the event of a claim.

3.	Have Safety/ Anti-theft Devices Installed

You may be eligible for further insurance discounts if your vehicle is equipped with one or more options: anti-lock brakes, automatic seat belts, air bags, or traction control.

Installing a vehicle recovery systems such as LoJack or Teletracer can save you up to 7-10% per year.

Other Anti-theft devices like The Club are relatively inexpensive and can also help to reduce your insurance premiums.

4.	Consolidate Insurance Policies

Insuring two or more vehicles through the same insurance company can help to reduce your insurance rates by as much as 10%-15%. Covering your home through the same company that insures your vehicles can help lower your rates by an additional 10%-15%.

      5. Teenagers and College Bound Drivers

Teenagers and college bound drivers may consider driving the family car instead of driving his or her own vehicle. Students attending school and living away from home can reduce their premiums by as much as 30-50 percent this way.

6.	Take Advantage of Low Mileage Discounts

Many insurance companies offer reduced insurance rates to people who car pool to work or find other ways to keep their mileage low.

7.	Safety Courses

Along with having a clean driving record, taking additional drivers safety courses could save you some 7-10% on your car insurance. If you are given a traffic citation, ask about the types of courses they offer. Some states willing to keep your insurance record clean if you agree to take complete these courses.

Conclusion

Lowering your auto insurance, in many instances, is about knowing what questions to ask and what you are entitled to. Since many companies arent going to do your homework for you, here is the short list of discounts you should inquire about:

[ ] Low Mileage
[ ] $500 Deductible
[ ] $1000 Deductible
[ ] More than One Car
[ ] No Accidents in 3 Years, 5 Years, and so on
[ ] No Moving Violations in 3 Years
[ ] Driver Training Course
[ ] Defensive Driving Courses
[ ] Anti-Theft Devices
[ ] Safety Features (like Air Bags, Anti-lock Brakes, Daytime Running Lights, etc.)
[ ] Student Drivers with Good Grades
[ ] Consolidating Policies
[ ] College Students Away From Home
[ ] Long-Time Customers
[ ] Discounts for Non Smokers and Retirees

Deductions will vary from state to state and from insurance company to insurance company. So be sure to ask.

Also the key to lowering your auto insurance rate is not necessarily how many discounts you are eligible for. Its the bottom line that matters.

With all this traveling in and out, back and forth around the maze that is the United States infrastructure, its easy to understand why auto insurance is required in order to own an operate a car. For car buyers, an effort needs to be made on the part of insurance companies to provide information on the different types of auto insurance available. These include bodily injury and liability, collision, comprehensive, full glace, liability, medical coverage, personal injury protection, and underinsured or uninsured motorist.

Liability insurance coverage is imperative to have as a driver. This insurance covers any injuries or damages to property that may occur during an accident. Two types of liability include bodily injury liability insurance and property damage liability insurance.

Medical insurance is different in that it focuses on the driver and passengers of the car. This will cover any medical treatment for the driver and the passengers. In addition, the medical insurance may or may not offer disability insurance and pain and suffering compensation.

Uninsured or under-insured drivers insurance will pay any costs that you or your passengers may experience if an accident should occur with a driver who is uninsured or underinsured.

Collision insurance deals with the cost of damage caused by a collision to your car that may affect the book value. Comprehensive deals more with damage caused by vandalism, natural disasters, theft or other kinds of damage.

There are several other types of car insurance. These include glass replacement insurance, towing insurance etc. These types of insurance are often not required and are not popular as they are often costly.

Now that you know what types of car insurance are out there, the next step is to find a credible insurance agent. The first place to investigate this is through family and friends. Referrals will help you sort those agents that you want to investigate further. You will want to speak with several different agents before you make your final decisions. Ask any and all questions you may have. That is what the agent is there for.

Buying auto insurance is an important part of your overall financial planning. The auto insurance premium rate varies depending on the company and the type of policy coverage you choose to have. Here are some guidelines to lower the cost.

Shop Around- Compare the costs by shopping around at least four to five insurance companies and comparing the quotes. Take the help of your friends, relatives and yellow pages. Your insurance company should offer fair price and posses excellent service records. Check the financial ratings of the company as it indicates the strength and stability of the company.

Ask for higher deductibles- Deductible is the amount of money that you pay before making any claim for an accident. The collision and comprehensive coverage are sold with the deductibles. Higher the deductibles lower will be the premium rate. Increasing the deductible from $200 to $500 may reduce the cost by 15 to 30 percent.

Drop collision and comprehensive Coverage on older cars- If your car is worth less than 10 times your premium inthe current market, consider dropping the collision and comprehensive coverage.

Buy auto coverage from your existing insurer- Buy insurance coverage from your existing carrier. This may help you to reduce the cost. Sometimes low rates are available for the longtime customers.

Avoid double health coverage- If you think that you have enough health insurance, and then avoid health coverage with your auto policy. This will help you to reduce the cost.

Maintain a good credit record- Insurers are using the credit history while determining the price of insurance. Statistically, the lower your credit score, the more you are likely to file claims. A person with a good credit score is more likely to settle the accident without the support of the company. Try to maintain a good credit record.

Discounts with low profile car- Cars that are expensive to repair or attractive to thieves will have a higher rate. Consider buying a low profile or average car as it your insurer might come up with discounts for such a car.

Take advantage of the low mileage discount: Obtain some discount on premiums by driving less than the national average mileage recorded per year.

Consult about group discount- Sometimes you can get some discounts on group plans provided by your employer, or a business groups, or other associations. Find out whether such a plan is available.

Seek Car Safety discount- Some insurers offer discount if you keep your car equipped with air bag, anti-lock brakes, anti-theft devices, automatic seat belts. Take advantage of this.

Long Term Life Insurance is term life insurance that is taken out for an extended period of time. Most term life insurance tends to be for a period of between one and seven years, but some people prefer a longer term cover. Insurance companies have responded to this demand by offering a new range of products that fall somewhere between whole life insurance and traditional term insurance.

Normally when people want long term cover, they purchase whole life insurance, which covers them for the duration of their life, and also builds a cash value. However, if you do not wish to pay the extra premiums that are associated with the investment, then perhaps long term insurance rather than whole insurance may be the way for you to go.

These policies may be referred to as Permanent Life policies, and can be set up so that they are payable on demise, or at a certain age. Long term life insurance really blurs the line between whole life and term life insurance, with policies often borrowing from both structures to offer the customer even more flexibility. If you do not wish to have an accruing cash value, then you dont have to. You can also stipulate whether you want the beneficiary to receive a lump sum payment, or monthly payments to boost income.

Unlike shorter term policies, long term life insurance does tend to be initially more expensive, though over the length of the term it may prove more cost effective than short term life insurance policies. Talking to your preferred insurance provider will give you a good idea of the options that are available out there. Then you can shop around and compare policies online, which will give you an even better idea of your options. The market is booming, so if you are looking for more flexibility in your life insurance, now is the time to look.

Everyone has to agree to an excess of some kind when getting a car insurance policy its the way the system works. Basically it means that if you have an accident and your car needs to be repaired, you will have to pay a set amount towards the bill. If the accident is your fault, you lose the money. If the accident is not your fault, the third party insurer reimburses you for the excess payment. If your car is written off, then your insurance company will deduct your excess from the settlement payment.

Things arent always that simple however, unfortunately there are a number of drivers on British roads that dont have any insurance, so the question is, what happens with your claim if you have an accident with an uninsured driver?

The 1988 Road Traffic Act, section 143 clearly states that all drivers on the UK roads must have insurance for the vehicle that they are driving. The point of the insurance is that if you have an accident and it is your fault, you have the means to cover the cost of the damage incurred by way of your insurance policy. Its a sad fact that a significant minority of drivers choose not to bother with insurance, disregarding UK law and saving themselves hundreds of pounds a year as a consequence. Someone has to pay for these drivers though, and its the people that do have insurance that foot the bill!

The Department of Transport estimates that as many as 5% of drivers are not insured on the vehicle which they are driving. Statistics also show that uninsured drivers are more likely to be involved in an accident. Its a growing trend and is proving very difficult to eradicate.

If you have an accident, you are not at fault, and the third party is not insured, then you will be reimbursed by the Motor Insurers Bureau. Who funds them? The car insurance industry! Thats where some of your inflated premiums end up. You will also find that youll have to pay the agreed excess yourself, there will be no-one able to refund that for you.

Heres the low-down on the basics about excess:

Compulsory Excess this is the amount that the insurance company regards as the minimum amount that you must pay towards the cost of damages . This is agreed at the outset and depends on a few details youre your age and your driving record. For example, if you are older and have a clean driving record, you could only have to pay a minimum of ?50. Those with a more chequered driving history, or those that have not been driving for very long, could feasibly have to agree to pay ?500. The average for most drivers is ?100 .

Voluntary Excess this is the amount over and above the minimum compulsory amount set by the insurer that you are prepared to pay. This is an opportunity to lower your premiums, because if you can agree to a high excess, then the insurance company knows it wont have to pay out as much if you need to make a claim. Its one of the few sure fire ways of saving a few pounds on a car insurance policy, but you may not be offered the choice, it depends on individual insurers.

The garage wont give my repaired car back until I give them a cheque for the excess is this what usually happens?

This is completely normal, and you will have to pay and then get the money back from the third party insurer. Always give the car a good once over to ensure that the repairs have been satisfactorily completed. You also need to keep the receipt to get the excess back from the insurer, and just in case they dispute the charges, get a copy of the repair schedule so the insurer can see exactly what work was completed on your vehicle.

An excess payment is the fixed contribution you must pay each time your car is repaired through your car insurance policy. Normally the payment is made directly to the accident repair garage when you collect the car. If your car is declared to be a write off, your insurance company will deduct the excess agreed on the policy from the settlement payment it makes to you.

If the accident was the other drivers fault, and this is accepted by the third partys insurer, youll be able to reclaim your excess payment from the other persons insurance company. But what if the other driver is uninsured?

All motorists know that its a legal requirement (under Section 143 of the 1988 Road Traffic Act) to have insurance for any damage they cause to third parties. But still many drive without insurance. An estimate of the incidence of uninsured driving in the UK is hard to come by and, for the obvious reasons, those drivers involved in breaking the law have every reason to keep quiet about it.

Calculations from the Department of Transport suggest that in the UK around 5% of vehicles are being driven without valid insurance. This group of people not only impose costs on honest motorists in the form of higher premiums, but their presence on our roads also represents a serious risk to other road users. Consequently, uninsured driving is increasingly being regarded as a major social problem.

But driving without insurance is not a victimless crime. If you have an accident with an uninsured driver and the accident wasnt your fault, the repair costs will be paid for by the Motor Insurers Bureau thats funded in its entirety by the industry, or by your insurer. Therefore, if youre involved in an accident caused by an uninsured driver youll eventually get you car repaired but youll still have to pay the excess and therell be no one to reclaim your excess from.

What is a Compulsory Excess?

A compulsory excess is the minimum excess payment your insurer will accept on your insurance policy. Minimum excesses do vary according to your personal details and driving record and by insurance company. Today the average excess is around ?100, but younger drivers could be faced with excesses of up to ?500 whilst more mature, experienced drivers with a good driving record, could be offered an excess of just ?50.

So what is a Voluntary Excess?
In order to reduce your insurance premium, you may offer to pay a higher excess than the compulsory excess demanded by your insurance company. Your voluntary excess is the extra amount over and above the compulsory excess that you agree to pay in the event of a claim on the policy. As a bigger excess reduces the financial risk carried by your insurer, your insurer I able to offer you a significantly lower premium.

The garage has repaired my car but it wont release the car too me until I pay the policy excess to them. Is this right?

Yes, that is normal practice. But make sure you inspect the car when you collect it. Satisfy yourself that the repair is perfect. Then make sure you keep their receipt for your excess payment as you will need this if youre reclaiming against a third partys insurance. And just in case theres a dispute, its a good idea to make sure the repair garage gives you a repair schedule. This will list all the repairs that were made to you car.

In the state of Florida, almost one quarter of the residents are over the age of 60. Quality long-term care is very important for many of these older Floridians. The Florida Agency of Health Care Administration (AHCA) regulates Health Care Facilities throughout the state and also administers Floridas Medicaid program.

Below are a few of the long term care facilities regulated through AHCA:

Assisted Living Facilities: Provides housing, meals and some personal services for residents. Residents have to meet certain functional criteria and must be ambulatory and able to perform daily living activities like eating and able to care for basic bodily functions. Bed ridden residents are not accepted. Medicaid will pay for such a facility if both the resident and facility are eligible.

Adult Day Care: These are less than 24 hour care facilities. They offer therapeutic programs impaired adults. These centers offer many activities such as exercise, education, health screening and behavior modification. These centers also serve as a reprieve to the primary caregivers. These programs may be covered by Medicaid.

Adult Family Care Homes: These family-type living arrangements provide a private home for up to 5 aged or disabled people (not related). The owner lives with the residents. The residents must not be bed ridden and are subject to other criteria as described in Florida law. Adult family care homes are for residents that do not require more care than can be provided by the owners. In some cases Medicaid will pay if both the resident and the AFCH are eligible.

Hospice: Hospice is a program that coordinates professional services including nutritional counseling, pastoral services, social work, and many other services for the terminally ill. These services can be provided at the hospital, hospice facility or the patients residence.

Medicare or Medicaid will pay for these services if the patient is eligible.

The car insurance industry has got really competitive in the last few years, so prices havent really changed much. There are now over 100 car insurers to choose from, so there are some very good deals out there for those who are prepared to shop around. 23% of motorists still choose to insure with the same company as the year before, but they could undoubtedly save money if they did check out some other companies.

Motorists could be forgiven for not getting other quotes, it used to be a very laborious exercise involving long waits while getting routed through the call centre, and boring repetition of facts to sales advisors. Now, thanks to the internet, its all a lot more simple. Car insurers also offer extra discounts to people who buy online.

However, you need to consider the quality of the policy, not just the price:

Check that your low quotation is not due to an extremely high excess.

Check that you will get a courtesy car if your car needs to be taken in for repairs.

Check that legal insurance cover is included, if you want it, and automatic windscreen replacement.

Find out if there is an accident help line in case of an emergency.

Its a good idea to ring the insurer direct to talk through the policy in detail before signing up online.

Money saving tips recommended!

You can get a quote with over 40 car insurers if you input your details into a good car insurance brokers website. Youll only need to give your details once. Call the insurer with the quotation to check exactly what is and isnt covered.

If you have a garage, then youll save by keeping your car there overnight. Youll also make savings if you can keep your car on a driveway. This is because there is more chance your car being broken into or vandalised if its kept on the road.

Give your insurer an accurate picture of how many miles you do each year you will save if you travel less.

Some occupations, like being a landlord, journalist or professional footballer (if only) attract higher premiums. You can save money if you work in finance or the civil service.

Get married! Men under 30 pay more if theyre not married its just the excuse your girlfriend is looking for!

Under 25s pay more, but you can get lower premiums if can put a driver over the age of 25 with a good driving record on your policy as a named driver. That person must be under 60 though, as premiums rise again at that age.

Agreeing to higher excess (the average cost is ?100) will help lower your premiums.

If your car is not of a high value, you could get third party cover and make quite a saving compared to fully comprehensive insurance.

Pay as you go insurance is a new option for 18-21 year olds. Its a recent development introduced by Norwich Union, in which you pay a unit cost per mile. The cost per mile is more between 11pm and 6am. You pay an initial fee of ?199 to have a Global Positioning System fitted to your car, and then it transmits details of your mileage direct to Norwich Union. They send you a monthly invoice and you pay for the miles youve done!

Taking Pass Plus lessons to improve your driving abilities could save you around a third on your premiums. They cost ?15 ?30 an hour and cover driving at night, in busy rush hour jams and fast motorway driving. You can find out more at www.passplus.org.uk . You can also improve your driving skills and make insurance savings with the Institute of Advanced Motorists ( www.iam.org.uk ).

Find out the insurance group of a car before you make the purchase. There are twenty insurance groups the slower and less desirable the car (to criminals) then the lower the rating. You could make considerable savings by choosing a car in a lower insurance group.

If you want a high spec or performance car then you can expect to pay a lot more on your insurance. Theyre a lot more likely to be stolen or involved in an accident. Making the sensible choice might be a bit boring, but it will be a lot cheaper.

Watch your speed. Most insurance companies will let you get away with a single fixed penalty fine but if you repeat the offence then your premiums will rocket.

Protect your no claims discount as soon as you can (usually after four years). It costs a bit extra but its well worth it.

Satellite navigation in your car will lower your premiums. Insurers have found that people concentrate more on their driving and less on trying to find their way, which means less chance of having an accident.

Its a good idea to have an engine immobiliser or alarm fitted not just because it could help you keep hold of your car, it will also make you a saving of 5-8%.

If theres two or more cars in the household, get them on the same policy to get a good discount.

Yes, you may want to consider a long term care insurance plan if you dont want to drain your retirement savings and other investments in the future! It is currently estimated that nursing home costs are more than $10,000 per month. Imagine, how much this will cost you on an annual basis if you had to pay this money out of your pocket if you needed care from a nursing home! This would be financially devastating without long term care insurance.

Did you know that prior to the passage of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, most Americans were able to count on Medicaid to assist them with long term health care. The Deficit Reduction Act changes all of that. This new law places the majority of long term health care costs on you, especially if you have assets. Unfortunately, middle class Americans will be hit the hardest with this new law.

How does the Deficit Reduction Act affect me if I need nursing home care and have assets? Well, for the most part, you will need to exhaust your assets before you will be eligible for Medicaid. Under this new law, there is a five year look back period from the date that you apply for your Medicaid benefits. This five year look back period, is to ensure that you have not transferred assets to relatives, friends, or other individuals. If you have transferred your assets to someone, Medicaid will count this against you and you will have a period of penalty wherein you will not qualify for benefits. Basically, this means that you could be out of money and Medicaid will not pay for your nursing home care!

The other side of this new law is that even if you have not transferred your assets to someone, you cannot have more than $500,00 in home equity. The majority of your assets including trusts and annuities are viewed differently under this new law.

It is important, that you consider long term care insurance as part of your retirement planning. With passage of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, it is a must! Unless you are independently wealthy and dont mind coming out of your pocket with more than $10,000 per month for your prospective nursing home care! For the average person, this would be a severe financial hardship.

What age should I consider getting a long term care insurance plan? You may want to consider in your early to mid fifties. However, it is recommended that you consult your insurance agent or financial advisor about this.

Planning is important, in order to assist you in eliminating a potentially devastating financial disaster. You want to live out the golden years of your retirement as stress free as possible. So make sure you plan for your future long term health care needs!

What is Long Term Care Insurance?
Long term care insurance serves to help those individuals who need extra care and attention as they age. Long term care insurance helps to take financial burden away from family members, and for the individual in need of such care. Often, the elderly have very little income and no extra money. Yet, the cost of aging itself seems to be rising. Those who can least afford it are expected to pay huge healthcare costs.

This is why long term care insurance can be beneficial, and take financial burden away from those who cannot afford the high cost of healthcare. A long term care insurance policy may be purchased at any time, though policies are ideally purchased before the need for long term care arises.

Paying the Price of Long Term Care Insurance
Long term care insurance premiums and rates will usually go up as the policyholder ages. In some cases, long term care insurance will not be needed at all. In those cases where long term care is needed, however, long term care insurance can be invaluable.

The price of paying for long term care insurance is much less than the cost of paying for long term care. Healthcare these days is very expensive. Long term care, these days, is astronomical.

An average private nursing home room this year costs over $190 per day. Now, to receive 24 hour care at home costs more than $400 per day. Life expectancy for women is 80 years, five more than men. You want to stay in your home as long as you can. You want to choose where and how you receive long term care as you grow older. About sixty percent of those age 65 and older will need long term care. A third of those receiving long term care today are under 65
-	Long Term Care web site, July 2006

Obtaining a Long Term Care Insurance Policy
Many insurance companies offer long term care insurance policies. It is always a good idea to shop around for the best rates and coverage when it comes to purchasing any type of insurance policy, but especially when it comes to health insurance.

Rates on long term care insurance will rise as time passes, but in general it is best to purchase a long term care insurance policy before the need for long term care arises. Do as much research and obtain as many quotes as possible when considering a long term care insurance policy. Make sure you know the rate at which the policy will increase and how much the long term care insurance will pay.

Understanding Your Long Term Care Insurance Policy
These days, simple insurance policies are so complicated that you almost need a translator to decipher the more complex language. Its very important that you understand the details of your long term care policy, including limits and deductibles that are applied to that policy. If you need help understanding a policy, you can consult with a lawyer. Do not sign up for a policy unless you understand every detail of that long term care insurance policy. You want to have all the details before you sign.

How Do You Know Long Term Care Insurance is Right For You?
Long term care insurance is for anyone who does not have an unlimited supply of money, who does not want themselves or their family to bear a heavy financial burden as they age. Long term care insurance serves to protect you, both financially and health-wise. Long term care insurance is a good idea for anyone, whether they believe they may need long term care or not.

Lost your car? Well, provided your car has been insured, you can always get a reimbursement. Thats the good thing about car insurance. It means insurance against loss due to theft or traffic accidents. Getting car insurance would guarantee payment of expenses incurred when your vehicle is involved in accidents, or is subjected to vandalism or theft. It also ensures you are able to cover the costs of potential damages or injuries.

Zero percent car insurance

Car insurance dealers may often make announcements of zero percent auto financing, and you may be tempted to go for this great deal. It would be a dream to drive away a new car with zero percent financing. This means a $15,000 car may fetch you savings in thousands, versus five-year car insurance with interest. However, you should know that this 0% car financing is not available for everyone. Many people even make the mistake of buying a more expensive car with no cost car insurance, thinking there will be no interest that they have to pay. Unfortunately, this happening is very rare.

Zero percent car insurance takes credit report into consideration to qualify for this insurance financing, and the guidelines for credit are extremely demanding too. There would be so many conditions of eligibility along with this offer that eventually only a few can actually get a great deal with the dealers. It is seen that car insurance with an interest rate offers a much better deal. Most of the time, this zero percent car insurance is offered only on some select vehicles; mostly on slow vehicles as the dealers main aim is to get rid of the vehicles.

If you are a first time buyer, or you have a limited budget for your car, you should carefully investigate the different insurance policies available, as some might suit you better financially. So do some research, as it is possible to get cheap motor insurance as well as keep the premium on the policy very low.

Tips on car insurance

Some important tips to remember are:

Higher excess: You can opt yourself to pay a higher excess in the event of an insurance claim.
Do thorough research on the internet, as online car insurance is a lot cheaper.
You get cheaper insurance if you get an approved immobilizer fitted in your car.
Get an insurance broker, as he can help you pick the right insurance.
If you are a student, you may gain some concession from the companies.
You can also get a cheap car with a small engine, as the more costly the car is, the higher the premium will be.
By building and protecting a no claims bonus you will have a great impact on your insurance rates.
If your car was very cheap, it may be cost-effective to have third-party, fire and theft insurance, instead of fully comprehensive cover.
Never give your price first, and never take the first quote from an insurer.
If you can, get your own copy of Credit Report and show it to the insurance companies, as they will charge you to get it for you during the approval process.

Kids today face an ever growing number of temptations ranging from drinking and smoking, drugs, gambling and pre-martial sex. Unfortunately, due to their youth and inexperience they fail to realize that what they do in their youth can have a great effect on their quality of life as they grow older.

On the other hand, as people grow older and approach retirement age they begin to realize that the carelessness of their youth did have a profound effect on the quality of their life but now they are ready to do whatever it takes to remove as much risk as they can. As a result, an ever increasing trend has been the purchasing of long term care health insurance as one way of reducing the financial risk a prolonged illness poses.

Long term health insurance is one the best ways to reduce whatever fears you may have in terms of how youll be able to take care of your health after (and in some cases at a much younger age if you are the victim of an untimely accident) retirement as well as ensure your family (your spouse, children and even your grandchildren) that they wont get saddled with the potentially huge amount of debt that can result from the high-cost of medical care. Long term care health insurance is one of the best ways to guarantee that not only will you receive higher quality care but that you wont lose a lifetime worth of savings in the process.

Because health care costs continue to rise at dramatic rates nearly every year, its becoming increasing advisable to begin coverage much earlier in life. Traditionally, individuals wouldnt even consider long term care until nearing retirement or even until after retirement but you may want to reconsider your thinking if thats been your plan. A few big reasons you may want to consider looking into long term care health insurance as early as your mid 50s are premiums and approval. Policies taken out when someone is in their early 50s (this is still seen as a favorable age group ) is much less expensive then one initiated in their early to mid 60s and the older you get the higher the premiums.

However, if you take out a policy when you are younger you will continue to pay the same premium even as you get older. Sure, you may pay for 10, 15 or 20 years before you need it but when you do need it youll have much better coverage.

Another big reason you may want to consider taking out a policy earlier in life is that you greatly increase your odds of getting approved with no riders or other exclusions. Once you get hurt or sick and realize you need long term health insurance then its too late to get coverage because no insurance company will issue you a policy at any price.

If youre currently a little older and you have other income besides your Social Security benefits or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and you absolutely have no trouble paying for your daily needs and all your monthly expenses then you should definitely look into a long term care health insurance plan.

Once you make the decision to look into purchasing a long term care health insurance plan you need to be aware that whatever company you talk too will assess your health and you current state of life before issuing you a policy. That will assess your ability to handle the Activities of Daily Living (ADL).

These so-called Activities of Daily Living are activities like: taking a bath, continence, dressing yourself, eating by yourself, going to the toilet (without any help from others) and getting yourself in and out of bed. If you cant most if not all of these activities you change of getting approved and a policy issued is greatly reduced.

On the other hand, different companies use different approval criteria and there are different types of policies you can apply for. Some policies are geared towards home health care or having a personal home nurse while others are designed for care to be received while staying in a long term care facility. You will be given the option to choose the type of plan you would like when you apply but like most things, you pay for what you get and different plans come will different price tags. Just make sure you thoroughly understand all your options first and if you feel pressured and uncomfortable then politely move on to the next company to apply.

The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article youll find that the subject of car insurance rate is certainly no exception.

Looking For the Best Car Insurance Rate?

You dont need to go places, meet lots of agents or drop by headquarters of different car insurance companies.

Traditionally, you will have to ask your trusted agent/broker about the best rates that can be offered to you. It somehow works, because the agent handles multiple accounts and affiliations with various insurance firms. And past experiences from other clients make him/her more knowledgeable about the car insurance gateway.

For sure, direct contact or transaction to car insurance companies will save you more on premiums. Why? Because middlemen are eliminated and so are the commissions paid to them. But you will surely find the task a very tedious activity.

Online processing of car insurance applications proves to be a wise move if you are after convenience and savings on gasoline and transport expenses. This mode will surely get you the best of the best rates across the Internet within seconds, and at your fingertips.

Online, you will find a lot of Web sites offering services that scout for cheapest car insurance quotes from insurance firms. The services will give you freedom to exercise your freewill and choose the car insurance company that offers the best quotes and rates for your needed coverage.

How to get the best car insurance rate?

Sometimes the most important aspects of a subject are not immediately obvious. Keep reading to get the complete picture.

To get a cheap car insurance premium, you will have to invest, first of all, in clean driving records. Speeding tickets or traffic violations you have committed for at least the past five years will directly affect the rates you will automatically get for your car insurance policy. If you already have tickets, adopt a self-policy that it is still never too late. Start practicing some disciple when off the road.

Get a higher excess charge or deductible. Deductible is the amount you are willing to personally shoulder in case of accidents, repairs or damages. For example, if you set a $500 deductible, the insurance company will not cover any expense if the cost of repairs from a damage will cost less than $500. Suppose the cost of repair reaches $600, you will pay $500 and the insurance firm will take the $100 bill.

The idea might sometimes be misleading. Some people fall through this trap by setting very low deductibles to make sure the insurer covers most of the expenses for repairs or accidents. The catch? Lower deductibles equate for higher premiums and vice versa.
Personal and car information are variables you cannot do something about. But they are the primary factors that get evaluated upon the processing of your car insurance application. Dont lie and sweeten your facts. Be honest. You may not get the best rates by doing so, but you will surely get the best and real quotes available for drivers of your classification if you will be open and inquisitive.

The best versus the cheapest

Best car insurance rates are not necessarily the cheapest. Best, still is a relative term, even in the car insurance jargon. For most of the industry insiders, best car insurance rates are attained if the coverage and policy purchased are comprehensive, broad and practical, even if the premium that comes with it is not that cheap.

Likewise, the cheapest car insurance rate may not be the best because certain coverage or policy clauses make them less compared to others. The cheapest car insurance rates usually lack certain provisions for various situations and accidents. Sometimes, hitting the bottom is not that ideal, especially if there are other more attractive options out there.

If youve picked some pointers about car insurance rate that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You wont really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge if you dont use it.

While life is populated by choices, one certainty that faces the majority of adults is that they can control their future options only by planning ahead. Financial planners recommend diversifying interests to insure profit. Real estate planners bank on the idea that real estate matures over time and is a solid investment.

Life insurance promises a financial cushion for bereaved family members so they wont have to worry about things such as house payments or accrued debt. Long term care planning focuses on the growing need for assisted care as the nations baby boomers near retirement age and individuals are living longer and longer lives.

Who benefits from the leads on long-term care?

Long Term Care Facilities

Individuals

Insurance Planners

Families

Long-term care is provided for individuals who need special assistance, but do not want to be a burden on their families. Why leave important decisions and financial burdens until the last minute? By planning ahead, adults can guarantee that their needs will be met in a manner that they choose and pay for.

For example, with life spans reaching 90 to 100 years old on average, a retiree with declining healthy may have to rely on family alone to support them if their health takes an ill turn or they are injured. Long term care planning puts those decisions and options into the hands of the people who will need them.

A 55 year-old man or woman is an excellent prospect for long-term care because they have the time and wherewithal to make the decisions now that will benefit them 30 years down the road.

What makes long-term leads a viable option in todays market?

The target market of long-term care leads are far more likely to discard direct mail advertisements about planning ahead versus answering their own curiosity or searching out potential services on their own. Since the prospects provided by a lead service are already contemplating their options, its a much smaller leap for the agent to make in helping them achieve their plans.

Lets face it, planning for a nebulous time of infirmity and ill health in the future is not a pleasant topic. Longer life span means that robust adults will not see a decline in their health until their years are much further advanced. They are less likely to take into consideration needs like debilitating disease or chronic conditions. Direct marketing techniques that pursue these avenues will likely outspend their return value.

A lead service can cut down on the overhead and output of marketing dollars while providing a more sustainable list of prospective clients. By cashing in on the prospects that are already aware they need some plan or formula in place, the agents work is halved with better odds at providing returns.

How can long-term care leads help everyone involved?

Yes, long-term care leads will help agents close more sales and thereby increase their profits. However, the concept behind long-term care leads will also provide excellent service to the target market. The information age is overripe with available material. Websites that detail the finest of small prints and where one resource can sound very much like another are a turnoff for a lot of prospective clients.

A lead service helps them to cut through the tape by acquiring their contact information and interests. That information and specific points of interest are then distributed to the right agents and contacts that can help them find what they are looking for. Ultimately, long-term care leads are a win-win-win situation for the agent, the client and the clients family.

.

Are you prepared for retirement and old age? While it may still be a long way off and there are usually a lot more urgent things to take care of, dealing with some of the requirements of old age, either for yourself or for someone you care about, a huge difference can be made by a few simple steps.

While saving for a pension and having good medical insurance are two of the most common steps, there is also the scope for long term care insurance, which may also be of great potential use in certain situations. This type of insurance covers the need for assistance in old age. Old age, as well as mental and physical illness can lead to many people needing assistance with such everyday tasks as eating, bathing and dressing. Simply looking after you can be too much for many people and when they are faced with this situation, assisted living and long term care can be an option.

Long-term care insurance can step in to help pay for the costs of such care. Do you think you may need such care? Will you be able to afford it if you do? Long-term care can last for many years and it is very expensive. Without the proper insurance, many people simply could not afford it. You may be planning to rely on Medicare or your own private health insurance policy. However, Medicare does not pay for custodial treatment of this kind. It is simply too expensive and you will therefore have to seek alternative living arrangements. Even private medical insurance will not foot the bill for long-term care.

If you think you will be very short of money by the time you need long term care you may qualify for Medicaid. Medicaid steps in to pay for medical care for the very poor. The good thing about Medicaid is that it will pay for long-term care. It is difficult to qualify for it though. You must be in the right wealth level and this is difficult to guarantee. The provisions of Medicaid are also liable to change so theres no guarantee that just because long term care is provided for now, that it will be in the future. If you are in serious doubt as to your ability to qualify for Medicaid, then it is unwise to rely on it.

Long term care can make a huge difference to your quality of life and well being in old age so if you think it is something you would like to make use of, the sooner you look into insurance for it, the better.

Car insurance rates are prohibitive nowadays. Many families really struggle to pay the car insurance bill each month. And car insurance rates vary all the time. So if car insurance cost is an issue for you, what can you do about it?

The car insurance industry is a massive industry. It is also a highly competitive one, and car insurance rates vary over time as car insurance companies compete for business. Car insurance rates are often highly fluid.

It is entirely possible to lower the cost of your auto insurance rates by altering your behaviour, and you can do this by having a better understanding of how the rates are assessed.

Car insurance rates are based on an assessment of risk. Whilst insurance companies vary their rates to compete with other insurance companies, they also vary their rates based on their assessment of the risk posed by a particular driver driving a particular car. They do this because there is no point in buying business with low car insurance rates and then insuring high risk drivers at these rates. This is a recipe for losing money.

So, if you lower your risk, you lower your car insurance. How do you
lower your risk? Well theres a number of ways that your own driving and car behaviour can affect your car insurance rates.

Have a look at the car you drive. Is it suitable for your current needs? If not then would it be worthwhile to consider a change?

Different cars attract different auto insurance rates. Sports cars, high powered cars and cars at greater risk of theft attract higher rates. How long have you had your car and would it be wise to think about another one that would be cheaper to insure and more useful to you?

Are you a safe driver? Do you stick to the speed limit? Are you at risk of other driving offences? Many people do not think about some of the consequences of speeding tickets and driving offences until after they have seen their subsequent car insurance bill.

Your risk profile is a direct result of your driving record. A clean driving record and you will be rewarded by cheaper rates. A poor driving record and you will be penalised, usually for quite a while.

Are you willing to attend driver training courses? Many car insurance companies offer specific discounts for drivers who have attended a course. Why? Lower risk.

Are you willing to drive less? Could you car pool or use public transport to get to work? Car insurance companies look at the amount of driving their clients do when assessing their car insurance rates. Why? Lower risk. Less miles driven equals less risk. And youll save on other car costs too.

So if auto insurance costs are an issue for you and your family there are things you can do. These are just a few of those things, there are many more. Car insurance rates are not set in stone.

Most Americans fear theyll need long-term care at some point after retirement, but only a small percentage are are doing anything about it, according to a survey conducted for the John Hancock Life Insurance Co.* It states that 85 percent of respondents worry about needing long-term care at some time in their future, an increase from 80 percent a decade ago.

Long term care addresses a wide range of long term care and supportive services for people who may have cognitive impairment or who are unable to accomplish certain activities of daily living over an extended period of time. These can include activities such as bathing, continence, dressing, eating, toileting, and transferring. Long term care services can be provided in a variety of settings, including your home, assisted care facilities or nursing homes; and it can be very expensive.

Many Americans incorrectly believe Medicare and/or Medicaid will help fund their long-term care expenses. This is simply not true. Some feel they will be able to trick the system, but this has become much more difficult to do. The Deficit Reduction Act that was signed on February 8, 2006, has caused most states to radically alter Medicaid parameters and long term care programs. The loopholes are being closed.

The study also found that almost 60 percent of the respondents worry about paying for long-term care, but nearly 70 percent of these people said they have done little planning, if any, for long-term care needs. Furthermore, Americans are living longer, care costs are rising, and company pension programs are being cut back. Because the average cost of nursing home care has risen to more than $71,000 a year, the costs for in-home care are also rising and it is apparent the rate of future increases will continue to be high; there is a looming crisis in America. Americans are not facing the realities of what lies ahead, especially the potential need for long-term care.

Right now, Americans seem to be avoiding the issue. According to the survey, more than 60 percent of adults havent tried to calculate the amount of money they need for retirement. Of those who did the calculation, nearly half didnt factor in long-term care. Of those who did, nearly four in 10 did nothing about it.

One important financial tool possibly being overlooked is Long-Term Care Insurance. Many people do not realize this type of insurance can be tailored to fit a persons budget as well as help with some of the potential costs of long term care. In other words, there are many variables that can be tailored to meet an individuals financial budget as well as help with the cost of future long term care needs. A qualified Long-Term Care Insurance representative should be consulted to help develop an appropriate plan.

* The survey was conducted by Greenwald & Associates.

Probably the most important thing when youre looking for cheap car insurance is to shop around. You need to look at competing products, and let the companies that youre dealing with know that you are looking around as well. Many companies do have flexibility with the packages they are prepared to offer you, and this goes double if you go to an insurance broker, who makes their livelihood by making deals between private citizens and insurance companies.

There are some factors that can work in your favor when it comes to getting reduced costs for your car insurance. Are you female? Are you over 25? Are you in good health? Do you have a completely clear driving record? All of these things can work in your favor. The less of a risk you can prove yourself to be, then the chances are better that you can get lower premiums.

Other ways that you can get reductions on your car insurance are to package your car insure with house, contents and or life insurance. Having all your insurance together means that you might be able to get one relatively low premium, rather than having to pay separate premiums for each insurance need.

You can also look for reward deals. Some companies will drop their premiums for you if youve been with them for a certain amount of time without having an automobile altercation and needing to draw on your insurance to cover it. These can really work out to be much cheaper over time.

Another thing you can do to save yourself some money is limited insurance, meaning that you insure the car only for yourself, or perhaps for you and your partner. This will get reduced rates versus insurance that covers anyone driving your car, or insurance that covers your wild young teenagers driving your car.

The best way to get cheap car insurance though, is simply to be a safe driver.

Auto insurance premiums vary widely from state to state and even within states. The same person may find swings of as much as $700 on the cost of an annual policy. Insurance agents are not legally bound to tell a perspective customer about discounts which may apply to his/her insurance. There are, however, things the consumer can do which may lower the price paid for auto insurance.

Higher deductibles

The single quickest and easiest way to lower your insurance premium is to raise your premium. Having a $1000 or even a $1500 deductible can lower premiums 15 to 20 percent. If you decide to go this route, consider putting the money saved the first year into an account earmarked to pay the deductible should you have any accident.

Investigate auto records

Your driving record may be unblemished but the record of the car model you own can also have an affect on your premiums. Insurance copies compile extensive reports on the way cars respond in accidents and how popular certain cars are with thieves. Cars with poor crash test ratings and cars that are frequently stolen cost more to insure. When buying a new car use an auto buyers guide to compare crash test and theft rankings.

Use the same insurance company

If you have more than one vehicle insure all of them with the same company. Almost all insurance companies offer multi-car discounts. Many companies offer further discounts if you use any other products they offer such as homeowners insurance and life insurance.

Getting many quotes and comparing them is the best way to check pricing, coverage and save money.

And, dont forget, the best way to lower your car insurance premium is to drive safely.

Please see our recommended sources for insurance quotes from multiple providers. We have done the research so you dont have to.

Whether you receive car insurance quotes from phoning companies directly or browsing their web sites it makes no difference. However, it is often much quicker to find many free auto cheap insurance quotes online.

Before actually committing to a particular automobile insurance company it is wise to lay out your needs first. Motor car insurance is there to protect you and your family from possible financial ruin. It is to cover your costs in case of a catastrophic occurrence. It is not only there to pay for the repair or replacement of your car, but for any medical or hospital bills that may become necessary.

There are many things to consider before taking out an auto cheap insurance policy. One thing to think about is the amount of your deductible. A higher deductible can save you a little on your premiums, but it may end up costing you more if you are actually involved in an accident that is your fault. No fault car insurance can increase your premiums, but it sure is great to have if an uninsured runs into your automobile. Most auto insurance companies offer discounts for features that will reduce the risk of injuries or theft. Daytime running lights or anti-theft devices can often lower your premiums due to the fact that they will decrease the likelihood of you filing a claim.

Many people decide to drop the collision or comprehensive coverage if they own a car that is not worth very much money. Why pay higher premiums for a car that is not worth very much? So choosing to insure for liability only is certainly a way to lower the coverage costs. Insuring for just liability has the potential to save you a lot of money, but if you are involved in an accident with someone that is uninsured you will probably end up paying your repair bills out of your own pocket.

Once you have decided if you want full coverage or just liability and have also considered your other insurance factors its time to get some free auto insurance quotes. You want a company that is financially stable which can be checked by using a rating company. One of the better known rating companies is Standard and Poors. There are also many magazines available that can help you find some financially strong insurers.

The internet is the easiest method of getting fast and free quotes, but there are other places to search as well. Many companies sell their own insurance through their own agents while other agents can get quotes from several different insurance companies, allowing you the opportunity to go with the lower priced ones. It is often wise to ask acquaintances about their insurance. Price alone should not be the sole deciding factor when insuring your auto. Dependability, honesty, 24-hour claims service and other factors should also be weighed.

A wise thing to do is to contact your state insurance department. They can provide information about the companies you are investigating. If there are consumer complaints about a particular insurer chances are they can tell you.

Another item that should be thought about is the possibility of saving money by insuring both your auto and your home through the same company. Most insurance companies will give you lower rates if you insure more things with them.

If you want to keep your costs the cheapest possible there are many other factors in determining what your coverage will end up costing you. Some of these include the quality of your credit rating, how many miles you drive each year (lower mileage can mean cheaper premiums) and whether or not you work for a company that will allow you to get their group discount. Some professionals such as doctors or chiropractors get discounts. Belonging to certain types of businesses or associations can also possibly qualify you for auto cheap insurance coverage. One of the biggest factors is your driving history. Have you been in other accidents lately?

These are all factors that should be investigated before committing to a particular company. Write down all of your questions and concerns and then you can begin with the free quotes. Call several insurance agents that are in your area and get some free quotes online. You can save on your premiums by doing just a little homework.

For many people, Terri Schiavo was the face of an emotional struggle over the right to live and the right to die. It sparked a heated global debate and inspired even the most apolitical citizens to take a stand.

Last Will and Testament and Living Will

The point in the controversy over the Florida Woman who lay comatose while her husband struggled to withdraw and her parents struggled to continue life support is all too common and all to avoidable. Its a struggle that doesnt have to happen.

In a Living Will you can give information about what kind of decisions you wnt to be made in various situations and you can state whether you would want to have life support terminated, withheld, or withdrawn if you get into a terminal stage of a terminal illnes, an irreversable coma, or a progressive condition in which the burdens of treatment are greater than the potential benefits.

And in a health care proxy which can be included in a Living Will you can designate someone to make health care decisions for you if you cant make or communicate your own decisions.

In short, creating an advance directive for health care is about caring for those who care for you. Its a way to make dure your wishes will be honoured and avoid burdening family members with the emotional stress of having to guess what health care decisions you would have made.

You people dont expect to need an advanced directive until old age. But critical health care decisions dont always wait. Everyone needs a Living Will and they need to make one long before they anticipate health problems. You cant authorize someone to make health care decisions for you if you cant sign the piece of paper youirself. You have to do a health care directive while youre competent.

Why Do People Avoid A Living Will?

Many neglect to create Living Wills because they are unaware of the urgency, others may avoid it out of a fear of confronting unsettling issues. We go through life liking to have as much control as possible over our bodies and our minds. Creating a Living Will means contemplating a loss of autonomy and independence which we all value. So to think of being in that kind of cognitive state is very disquieting, very anxiety arousing. It really representss helplessness, extreme vulnerability and a loss of control. Not to mention that contemplating dyig means a loss of connections to all our loved ones.

Thinking aboutr death also brings up tough philosophical questions that many people are afraid to consider.

A Living Will Does Not Contemplate Incapacity

Many people experience disconfort when thinking about topics like death and diability. But discussing your wishes with loved ones and documenting them in a Living Will will bring peace of mind to everyone involved.

Face it squarely, and dont shrink from discussing it. The aim is to get everything settled in advance.

People remember how sad they felt while Terri Schiavo withered away; as they watched the womans family fight over what they thought she wanted.

You Should Have A Living Will

While Living Wills have existed for some time, they have become household words since the Schiavo case the Florida woman who suffered severe brain damage in 1990 and became the centre of a legal and moral debate which culminated in her passing away on March 31, 13 days after her feeding tube had been removed.

The controversy pitted Schiavos parents, who wanted to keep their daughter alive, against Schiavos husband, who said she wanted to die rather live in such a state. Politicians joined in the debate as did church leaders. People around the nation argued the moral and ethical implications of Schiavos condition.

Schiavo did not have a Living Will a written, legal document that clearly expresses what a patient would want done if their condition is terminal and incurable, an important message to your loved ones when you are no longer able to communicate.

While common sense would say Living Wills are more important for the elderly its important for adults of all ages to have such documents because you never know when tragedy will strike. Schiavo was only 26 when she collapsed in her home.

There are people who are young that dont realize this is important, but it is. The Living Will gives you a chance to make a decision you want about life and death.

Who Needs A Living Will?

Everybody needs a Living Will. You can be in charge, regarding the way you are treated at the end of your life.

Nobody in their right mind would want their family to be dragged through something like the Schiavo case. Anybody, regardless of age, should seriously consider how they will be treated, as long as they are living by the medical community.

It is important to have a Will and a Living Will for the children. It makes it easier on families if a situation arrives, so they dont have to make a decision on their own. Its never too early to have a Will or a Living Will.

The law requires liability insurance for all drivers and vehicles. This means that if you are involved in a serious accident, and it turns out that it was your fault, your insurance company will pay out any claims that are made against you. Extra coverage on your own vehicle, called comprehensive insurance, is optional.

Insurance companies based on a number of risk factors will calculate the price you pay for this insurance. Basically how it works is the more they feel you are at risk of crashing, and the more they think the resulting crash will cost them, the higher the premium youll pay.

Assessment

Common factors that will be to assess the premium are the value of the car youre driving, the safety of that vehicle, the coverage you want, will there be deductibles or limits etc.? How much youll drive the car, how your driving record stands, how long youve held your license, your age, and if you are young, also your sex.

The premium is then calculated. Usually there is a flat per car, per year rate that everyone pays, regardless of other factors. The other factors will then alter this rate, generally upwards. So if your car is especially fast or dangerous your rate will be increased by a set amount. If it is very old, your rate goes up. If youve had one or more accidents in the past, your rate will go up. If youre young and male, your rate will go up. The more of these factors you satisfy, the more your rate will be going up.

Discounts

As a sales enhancement, many car insurers offer a low estimated future mileage discount to customers who predict that the cars mileage will be below some stated limit during the next premium period. There is no verification involved and no additional charge if the car is subsequently driven more than the stated amount. This arbitrary discount tends to foster customer belief in the mistaken idea that miles are just one of many classification factors used to raise or lower prices from the territorial base rate. In fact, odometer miles (which insurers do not use) are not a factor but a metric the only valid basis for measuring each cars consumption of insurance protection in on-the-road use.

The best way to save on car insurance is to shop around, keep a good clean driving record, drive safely, and choose reliable cars that are not known for their power and speed.

The car insurance policy has a lot of legal language that most of us do not begin to understand. The essential parts of the car policy are found in the declarations page that you receive when your policy renews. Car insurers are always competing for each others policyholders. Every car insurance company uses actuaries and underwriters to help determine the rates.

Rating Territory Whether you like it or not, your neighbors and friends in your community help determine the rates in your area. These areas are called rating territories by the insurance companies. If there are high losses and frequency in your area then your rates are going to be higher. The opposite is also true.

Liability Insurance Liability insurance protects you when you are liable in an automobile accident. This is valuable protection for you because this is the portion of the possible that insures you against the highest risk and financial loss. Liability claims because of death and injury are by far the largest. Dont cut yourself short in this area.

Physical Damage Insurance This portion of the car insurance policy pertains to your vehicles. It is a good idea to self-insure in this area by purchasing this coverage with high deductibles. Low deductibles no longer warrant the high premiums for the protection afforded. High deductibles will save you thousands of dollars over the life time of a policy.

Car Insurance Discounts There a number of discounts in car insurance, Vehicles with air bags, seat belts, anti-lock brakes, and anti-theft devices all have discounts. Senior drivers can receive retirement discounts. Young drivers with driver training education receive discounts. Some companies give good student discounts for the young driver with a 3.0 grade point average.

Its also important to have certain information available when shopping for car insurance. The vehicle identification number for all vehicles, the drivers license number for all drivers, and your current insurance information will make your shopping easier.

Many people are wondering what they need in the way of legal documents to make certain that, in the event of incapacity, their wishes are known and followed regarding potential end-of-life decisions. Advance directives are a set of documents that are used to lay out a clear chain of command to give decisions makers guidance as to the individuals wishes as they relate to the type of care desired in a crisis . It is a way to direct the decision maker about what an individual wants and does not want, should they be unable to make their wishes clear.

A LIVING WILL IS AN ADVANCE DIRECTIVE

Unlike Wills, which deal with matters after the death of a person, advance directives are usually put to use before a person dies, and they are critical part of the estate planning process. The three most common advance directives that are typically drafted are a power of attorney for financial decisions, a power of attorney for health care and a Living Will.

A power of attorney for financial decisions names a person to handle financial matters on behalf of another individual. A financial power of attorney can be very broad in the power that it confers on an individual to make serious decisions regarding a principals assets.

A power of attorney for health care is similar in some ways to the power of attorney for financial decisions in that it also names a person to make decisions on behalf of someone else.

When executing a power of attorney for health care, an individual answers several questions in an attempt to make clearly exactly what kind of treatment they want, based on their medical condition.

A LIVING WILL AND A POWER OF ATTORNEY

A Living Will, in some ways duplicates the information in the power of attorney for health care, but unlike the power of attorney, which can also cover situations in which a person may recover but needs someone to make their medical decisions for a time, a Living Will is simply a directive stating that an individual does not want heroic measures to keep them alive when there is no realistic prospect of any meaningful recovery.

It is more important to give your loved ones the tools they need to deal with your incapacity (and even your passing) with the confidence that they are fulfilling your wishes.

When it comes to car insurance, there are a couple of traps you can fall into. The contracts are complicated and extremely difficult to understand, and thats if you even have the time to read them. The fact is that most people dont read insurance contracts and there is a significant information shortage when it comes to consumers and the contents of their own insurance contracts.

One of the problems with this information gap is that it can lead to wasted money. Every time you rent a car you are asked what kind of insurance you would like. The options are generally to take none, which costs nothing, or you could cover liability insurance, which should cost about $10 per day. Then you have a variety of options to cover the rental cat itself, prices for which vary from company to company and state to state. The full coverage option, which includes liability, passengers, and the rental car usually, comes to about $25 to $30 a day. Most people genuinely dont know what option they should be taking.

Liability

Liability insurance is the only insurance you are required by law to take out. All the others are optional. Thats the first and most important thing to remember when youre at the rental desk, and the total price for your two-week vacation car is quickly adding up and up. The other thing to know is that in many cases, you will be covered, to some extent by your existing car insurance. You will have to check your insurance policy to make certain, but for the vast majority of drivers, they will have liability insurance by virtue of their own car insurance, and this will carry over to the rental car.

It is however, unlikely that full or comprehensive coverage will carry over from your own car insurance. This is because comprehensive insurance is calculated based on the value of your car. Insurers dont want to be in a position where they set your policy based on your say, $15,000 vehicle, and then have to pay out when you crash a $40,000 rental. So your policy will state that only liability insurance is provided when you rent.

Credit Card Cover

You may still require no insurance from the rental company however. This is because many credit card companies, including both visa and MasterCard, offer this insurance if you pay for the rental with one of their cards. This is a major benefit of using a credit card and should not be wasted. Again you should check with your credit card provider what they cover, but the bottom line is, if your own insurance covers liability, and your credit card covers the rental car, why pay a couple of hundred dollars for extra insurance when youre already covered?

If you are in doubt as to your insurance, it is wise however to take the rental companys policy, especially liability.

b>

Obviously, it is beneficial for anyone, in a vegetative state lor not to have a Living Will. But, people need to know that many of the Living Wills utilized today have major problems associated with them.

Living Wills Have To Be Clear

Much of the problem stems from misinterpretation of typical Living Wills by medical staff. These forms are often one size fits all and often legally driven and therefore do not flow medically. Also, they are often recommended to patients with end stage conditions who have already agreed to only comfort care or hospice interventions. As such, when medical staff see Living Wills they automatically associate it with a reduced level of care. This is what makes a standard Living Will dangerous and it may comprimise your care and safety.

Most people who create Living Wills are unaware of this problem and wish to receive care, unless they are terminal despite reasonable medical interventions, or in a persistent vegetative state.

Living Wills Call For Group Discussion

In most cases at least, Living Wills should be read and interpreted by at least two persons. They can recheck the document and the patients history and decide whether to intervene.

Attorneys often help create the problem when writing Living Wills for clients. They should not be doing Living Wills unless there is some sort of interaction with the help of an experienced physician.

Is it possible to purchase car insurance online? Most folks are used to purchasing their car insurance by leafing through a telephone book and calling local insurance agencies. When you call a local agency they usually request a copy of your current coverage in order to give you an accurate comparison as well as advice . This same process can happen with online quoting as well. The online quoting system will require you to post all pertinent insurance information to give you an accurate quote. You do more of the work but you are better informed when you complete the process.

Car Insurance Information Needed for Online Quoting

1. Expiration Date The expiration date is critical because it proves that your insurance has not expired and that will qualify you for a preferred rate with most companies. If your insurance has expired then you may be underwritten into a substandard carrier and those rates are higher.

2. Driver Information All resident relatives that have a drivers license need to be rated on the policy. You will need to enter the name, date of birth, and drivers license number.

3. Driving Record Accidents and violations need to be disclosed to pre-qualify you for the insurance. This needs to be accurate because insurance companies will find out about your driving record anyway. They check motor vehicle reports from your state as well as your prior carrier.

4. Vehicle Information You will have to list each vehicle on the policy. You will need the vehicle identification number for each vehicle. That number will give the insurance company the pertinent information that it needs to discount the vehicle for air bags, anti-lock brakes and other safety features.

5. Current Coverage Use your declarations page to list all of the coverage that you currently have on all vehicles. This will include liability limits, first party benefits and physical damage limits.

.

If you are a young couple busy with young children with good lives and jobs, you are certainly not ready to think of your lives ending. But you do need to think about it.

Case in point Terry Schiavo. She was just 26 years old when cardiac arrest put her in a persistent vegative state. The court battle over whether shed want to live or die drove home the message that end of life issues know no age boundaries.

You need to talk about the issues. The problem is that if something should happen, emotions could take over and lead to something you may not have wanted if it isnt in writing.

Why A Living Will Is Important

Thats exactly why a Living Will is something every adult should have. The definitive cases on the issue Karen Ann Quinlan, Nancy Cruzan and Terry Schiavo all involved women in their twenties.

If you are not able to talk to yourself, the Living Will speaks for you.

Legally, its called a natural death declaration. It allows you to define what you consider a terminal condition and what you consider to be life sustaining measures, for example, CPR, antbiotics, and food and water.

Dont Hide The Living Will

Once you create your Living Will, dont put in a drawer. Talk to family members, give copies to all your doctors , friends and lawyer and take it with you on hospital visits. The more people who have a copy, the more effective it will be and the more likely it will be honoured.

You need to have this declaration; you hope you never need it, but its good to know its there. If something should happen, it wont be a struggle between families.

A Living Will should also include a durable power of attorney for health care. It designates a specific person to make medical decisions for you if you cant make them yourself.

Life settlements can be a viable option for seniors willing to exchange their life insurance policy for immediate cash. A life settlement is the sale of an existing life insurance policy for a lump sum of money. It allows policyholders to access the fair market value of their life insurance by selling their policies and receiving payments greater than the cash surrender value.

Technically, a life settlement contract allows you to sell your insurance policy to a third party in exchange for a reduced amount of the face value. This is possible because a life insurance policy is actually property, like a car, house, stocks and bonds that can be legally sold. A life settlement essentially lets you extract value today from an asset that is generally thought to only have a benefit when you die. Typically, life settlement transactions involve life insurance policies of a large face amount; key-person coverage or corporate-owned life insurance; or policies representing excess coverage that is no longer needed.

Heres how a life settlement works: When a life settlement company buys your life insurance policy, it pays you a percentage of the policys face value. Then the life settlement company becomes the new beneficiary of the policy at maturation. As such, it is responsible for all paying all future premiums and collects the entire death benefit when the insured dies.

A Growing Industry
With a life settlement, you can receive a large sum of cash in exchange for your insurance policy while youre still alive. This eliminates premium payments, accommodates the changing needs of your dependents and provides greater financial flexibility.

Life settlements can also be used for charitable giving. Complex estate and tax planning strategies can apply when using life settlements in a planned giving program. But heres how this works in simplest terms: You donate your life insurance policy to a charitable organization, which immediately sells the policy for a lump sum of cash via a life settlement.

These and other benefits are making life settlements an attractive option for seniors with unwanted/unneeded insurance policies. Consequently, the life settlement industry has seen significant growth in recent years. A study by Conning & Co. Research found that senior citizens owned approximately $500 billion worth of life insurance in 2003, of which $100 billion was owned by seniors eligible for life settlements. Since 2003, more and more of these eligible senior clients have sold their policies and helped the market increase.

Separate research by the University of Pennsylvanias business school found that life settlement providers paid approximately $340 million to consumers for their underperforming life insurance policies, an opportunity that was not available to them just a few years before. We estimate that life settlements, alone, generate surplus benefits in excess of $240 million annually for life insurance policyholders who have exercised their option to sell their policies at a competitive rate, according to the research.

Selling Your Policy
You could be a prime candidate if you are of retirement age, have paid off your mortgage and other debts, and no longer require the financial protection of life insurance. The amount you receive will depend on your age, health, death benefit, and the number of years your policy has been in force.

Seniors with the greatest chance of selling their policies are those that are older than 65 years of age, have a calculated life expectancy of more than two years (but less than 10 years) and may have experienced a health change that has led to their insurance premiums increasing. Depending on the policy holders life expectancy, just about any type of policy can be sold, including universal life, whole life and convertible term contracts. However, policies generally must be valued at least $100,000.

Determining whether to sell your life insurance policy is a purely personal decision. You might consider a life settlement under the following circumstances:

Your employment status has changed.

You need additional funds to pay medical/long-term care expenses.

Your insurance premiums are too expensive and you can no longer afford them.

You would like to implement a charitable or family gifting plan.

You are facing bankruptcy.

Consulting with an Advisor
Before you decide to sell your insurance policy, you should examine all the available options, advises the American Council of Life Insurers, a Washington D.C.- based trade group. And instead of going it alone, consult with a financial advisor who is familiar with life settlements. This could include account/CPA, lawyer (especially elder law attorney), financial/estate planner, certified senior advisor or charitable trust officers.

Additionally, you might consider working with a broker-although your financial advisor can submit your case to the life settlement company directly. However, in an industry where market value for life insurance policies may be unfamiliar, brokers typically do the best job of getting fair market value for policies. They submit life settlement cases and bids to multiple companies, which can facilitate negotiations between high bidders.

Keep in mind that life settlement companies are essentially investors that fund many transactions each year. They hold purchased policies as portfolio assets, rather than making them available to outside investors. They also have in-house compliance departments to carefully review transactions, and they are backed by institutional funds from a major bank.

Steps to Life Settlement Transactions
Wondering what happens during life settlement transactions? Here are the steps involved in the typical transaction:

Step 1: You consult with an advisor and decide to sell your policy.

Step 2: You and your advisor select a broker.

Step 3: The broker submits your case (and you provide a release for your medical information) to various companies.

Step 4: If your policy is eligible for a life settlement, providers send offers to the broker.

Step 5: You accept an offer and then complete the companys closing package.

Step 6: The life settlement company places a cash payment in escrow and submits change of ownership forms to the insurance carrier.

Step 7: Once the paperwork is verified, the funds are transferred to you.

.

Like many people buying car insurance, you shop around and buy online. Youve found a really good, cost-efficient deal. So when it comes to the final checkout, do you choose to tick Yes or No in that Legal Expenses Cover box? It will add a little more to the total, and its not an absolute requirement, so you may be tempted to leave it out. Not least because its definitely not the most well-known part of insurance! It is, however, something we think you really should consider adding if its not in the policy as standard. And heres an example of why:

Earlier in the year Jake, one of our freelance writers, was involved in a car accident. His Golf Mark I is his pride and joy, and hes spent many happy weekends working on it. So naturally, he wanted total insurance coverage for every eventuality even legal expenses.

This certainly proved to be the right decision after the accident. The car was hit from the rear, so some of the vehicle damage could be fixed. The insurance company worked fast to deal with the claim. Unfortunately, Jake also suffered a broken wrist and some whiplash. If he hadnt taken legal expenses cover, the bill for a solicitor to pursue his compensation claim would have been solely his responsibility. Fortunately, since he had the cover, Jake was able to get his compensation quickly. Working as a freelance writer, Jake doesnt have the safety net of employer sick pay. Lost hours mean lost money. Jake was out of work for a month and a months wages. With legal expenses cover, however, Jake was able to claim for loss of earnings and will receive compensation for them any day now.

The total cost of this peace of mind and earnings security? An extra ?2 a month on his premium, surely a worthwhile investment for anyones money!

Fully comprehensive car insurance ensures that your vehicle is well taken care of, but how about the driver? Jakes accident was not his fault, but he had to spend a month off work. Without legal expenses cover, the cost of getting compensation would have fallen to him. With it, he was as well protected as his beloved car, and didnt have to worry about being able to afford to make a claim.

Take another example of a typical accident: you are unharmed, but your car has to wait in the repair shop for two weeks while parts come in. Without replacement car hire as part of your insurance deal, you will have to rely on public transport not the reason you bought your own vehicle! With legal expense cover, you can use a hire car and know that your trouble and inconvenience will be compensated.

All you need to do when you claim on your legal expenses policy is to provide the accident details in the same way you normally would all the paperwork will be taken care of for you. Its possible that you may need to speak to your solicitor, or appear in the stand in the event of the case going to court, but you wont ever have to pay any legal fees.

And the cost is low, sometimes even free. Admiral include it as standard. Most insurers do make a charge, but it averages around ?20 a year for example, More Than charge ?17.85, and Budget add an extra ?24. Consider the legal battles that have resulted from accident claims in the past especially those where serious injuries and claims were involved. Compensation and costs can run into millions. No-one can doubt that in cases like these, legal expenses cover is a worthwhile addition to any policy.

So next time you buy car insurance, make sure your policy includes legal expenses cover. Take it as an extra if its not part of the standard package. Youll barely notice the extra cost, but youll certainly be aware of the benefits if you ever need it.

if you ever need it.

Overweight people are in the firing line again. Life insurance companies are increasing premiums up to four fold for fat people. Theyve always charged more for those of us who over-eat, but during the last year the penalties have got worse.

In moves to tighten the belts further, the life insurers are lowering the weight limits they use to categorise people. This tougher move means that those who are merely overweight and would have previously qualified for a standard premium, are now penalised with higher premiums and the premium rapidly rises the more overweight they believe you are.

Height and weight are just two of the questions you have to answer when you apply for life insurance. From them, the life company calculates your Body Mass Index and if that exceeds the limits they define as acceptable, they might ask for a doctors report. In bigger cases they might ask you to have a medical examination. If this confirms that your weight is of concern, then you can expect your premium to be loaded by at least 50% and as much as 400% if youre really obese. Recent research shows that around 25% of applicants will experience problems getting life cover due to their weight. In extreme cases the insurer will even refuse the application.

In an acknowledgement of normal middle age spread, the insurance companies do take your age into account when deciding your premium. They accept that people naturally tend to put weight on as they age. If youre young and overweight, however, theyll certainly hit you hard. So overweight and 38 will be hit much harder than overweight and 58.

For example, a non smoking healthy man aged 35 asking for ?150,000 level cover over 25 years will currently be quoted ?18.77 by Scottish Provident but this could easily jump to ?35 if he is overweight and up to ?47 if hes obese.

And obesity is certainly a growing problem. Over the last 20 years obesity in adults has rocketed with more than 60% of men and 50% of women being judged as overweight or obese. And signs are that the problem wont improve. In children aged between 2 and 15, 28% of girls and 22% of boys are overweight.

How do you rate on the Body Mass Index?

Calculate your own BMI.

Note your weight in pounds and multiply it by 703.

Divide the result by your height measured in inches

Again divide the resulting number by your height in inches

The result is your BMI

The typical insurance company considers a BMI of between 18.5 and 24.9 to as normal. Above 25 classifies you as overweight. Over 30 and youre obese.

To give you more of a fix on what this means for you, here are the BMIs for twelve famous people:

Under weight

Paula Radcliffe Marathon Runner 18.0

Victoria Beckham Footballers Wife 17.0

Jennifer Aniston Actress 17.5

Normal weight

Alan Shearer Newcastle Footballer 24.4

Davina McCall TV Presenter 20.8

Cilla Black Presenter 20.7

Overweight

Russell Crowe Hollywood Actor 25.6

Ann Widdecombe MP 25.1

Charlie Dimmock Gardening Presenter 26.0

Obese

Norman Schwarzkopf US General 30.5

Michelle McManus Presenter 34.4

Dawn French Comedienne 43.8

ne 43.8

During the last few years, the average car insurance premium has virtually been at a stand still. The reason is price competition. There are now over 100 car insurance companies fighting for your business and competition is fierce. There are always bargains to be found as companies cut their premiums to attract motorists in the hope youll remain loyal and stick with them in following years. Indeed, every year, 23% of us renew our motor insurance with our existing insurer.

But in recent years the Internet has created a revolution in the marketing of car insurance. It makes shopping around so easy without the need to make loads of phone calls and without spending time threading yourself through the automated phone systems beloved by so many call centres.

But youd be wise to remember that the lowest premium is not always the best. For example, some insurers have recently pushed up the level of claims excess they want you to pay as this helps them provide you with a much lower quote. You should also check out whether a courtesy car is provided if your car is in for repair. You might also feel you want legal insurance cover and automatic windscreen replacement. An accident helpline can also very useful in the middle of an emergency! Youll need to phone the broker or insurance company youre thinking of dealing with in order to check out these points.

17 Top Tips

for cheaper car insurance

Get your online quotes through car insurance brokers. Their computer systems will search for the best quotes from 40 or more car insurers and save you lots of time. When youve got their cheapest quote, phone them to discuss the relative merits of the cheapest quotes they found.

Garage your car at night. Insurance companies know that a car left on the road at night is much more vulnerable to theft and damage. If you dont have a garage, if possible keep it on your drive.

Update the estimate of your mileage each year. If youve moved home or changed your job you may have shorter commuting journeys. If so, your premiums should be less.

Your premium can be influenced by your job. Landlords, journalists, and professional footballers to name but a few, all pay more! Go for a job thats a bit more boring! Accountants and civil servants pay less!

Getting married could save money on your car insurance, particularly if youre male and under 30.

If youre under 25, add an older experienced driver with a good riving record onto your policy as a named driver. But dont let him be too old! premiums start rising again after age 60!

Consider paying a higher accident excess. The average excess is about ?100. If you are prepared to increase you claims excess, your premium will fall significantly.

If you have cheap or old car, consider buying just 3 rd Party cover. Get quotes for 3 rd Party and comprehensive insurance and weigh up the savings.

Are you aged between 18 and 21? Then consider pay as you go insurance. Norwich Union has recently introduced the first pay as you go insurance policy, which charges you exactly for the miles you drive. It also charges more for the miles you drive between 11 and 6 at night. The system works through a Global Positioning System which is fitted to your car for a one off fee of ?199. The GPS black box tells Norwich Union how many miles the cars been driven and they send you an monthly invoice.

A new driver? Spruce up your driving technique by taking some more driving lessons. New drivers can slash their insurance costs by as much as 35% by taking Pass Plus lessons. These give you extra training for driving in rush hour traffic, motorway driving and night driving. Lessons cost between ?15 and ?30 per hour. (www.passplus.org.uk). You can also reduce your premium if youve taken a course with the Institute of Advanced Motorists (www.iam.org.uk).

Buying a new car? Then check out the insurance group before you buy. Cars fall into one of 20 insurance groups with 1 being the cheapest and 20 the most expensive. If the proposed insurance premium is too high, chose a car thats in a lower group.

High spec and performance cars attract thieves and are more expensive to repair so they always cost more to insure. Consider something with a little less voroom!

Its hard we know, but try hard not to speed! Most insurance companies will ignore one fixed penalty fine but get more and your premium will rise.

Got 4 or more years no claims discount? Pay the extra get the discount protected.

Fit a satellite navigation system. Some insurance companies have noticed that sat nav cuts the accident rate by letting drivers concentrate on the road. Insurers will soon be giving discounts if you have it fitted.

Get a engine immobiliser or alarm fitted. It could save you between 5-8%.

Got more than one car in the home? Some insurers will give a discount for insuring them all in one policy.

Car insurance companies prefer lady drivers to their gentlemen counterparts because they are considered as much less risky drivers. It is not that the accident rates of ladies are low. They face as many accidents as males do. However, the damage caused by them is not as much in most of the cases. So, their claims after the accident are also less. That is why on an average womens car insurance premiums tend to be 30% lower than that of the male counterparts having same demographic profile.

They drive at speeds lower than men. Hence, accidents caused by lady drivers are not serious. So, even if they might claim as often as males do yet, in all they claim less amounts, giving insurers lesser premiums. Since the male drivers drive at higher speeds so even if they crash on their own, the loss is high. In case, the accident involves two vehicles in high damage state, it becomes an insurance companys nightmare.

A lady is regarded to be a better risk right from the age of 17. There are many premium discounts available for a young lady driver, like pass plus certificate. It is a series of extra lessons that a young lady driver learns following their test. It can gain you a discount of around 30% for the first year.

Some car insurance companies specialise in auto insurance for women drivers. Literally, these companies try to insure women drivers only. They dont even encourage getting a lady insured with her husband under combined policy. Because they cant give too much discount, as they have to think about her husbands high risk factors as well. So, they would prefer woman with woman. It means providing less risk in total, meaning lower premiums in total. That really clicks for them.

So, the calculation is simple the lower premiums might mean that they dont make much profit. However, if they can get as many women as possible, then the volume of business can go high. Look out these companies if you are a woman. Lady car insurance quote includes legal cover as well. It helps you to claim back your excess from the third party in the event of a non-fault claim. You can further lower your premium by parking your car overnight in the garage, by getting extra driving license course, and maintaining a good driving record.

Its sad to think about, but life insurance is something that everyone needs to consider. In the event of an unfortunate loss, an individual often wants to have the peace of mind in knowing that his/her family will be financially secure.

Life insurance can be obtained in a number of ways, including from a national insurance provider, various credit cards and/or certain employers. Depending on the amount of coverage, which is usually available in varying amounts, monthly payments will range from being affordable to very expensive. The amount of coverage that is selected will determine how much a family will receive if their loved one should pass away.

It is important for many individuals to purchase life insurance so that their loved ones will not have to worry about money in addition to being upset over their loss. When bills begin to come in and utilities are due, this can be a very difficult time for anyone who is also dealing with the loss of a family member. This is especially true if the loss was that of the familys provider, which often means that little or no income will be coming into the household. A life insurance policy will help to ease some of that stress by providing financial help to the family that is left behind. In order to make sure the proper beneficiary is noted on any life insurance policy, the holder must make sure to provide all of the requested information to the insurance provider.

If life insurance is obtained when the policy holder is young, it will be very affordable. The more time that passes and the older an individual grows, the more expensive the policy will be. In addition, anyone with known health problems will likely pay a much higher life insurance premium if they are fortunate enough to find a carrier to provide them with a policy. As unfortunate as it is, many life insurance companies will not provide coverage to anyone known to be in poor health. The wellness, or lack thereof, relating to a patient will likely be determined by a mandatory physical. While not all carriers require this procedure, some will before confirming coverage. This is their way of making sure that the policy holder is in good health before issuing any type of coverage.

On a final thought to life insurance coverage, it is not a pleasant thing to discuss or even consider. It is, however, a necessary part of every familys life.

If you are classified as a high-risk driver, finding car insurance can be quite a hassle. Some insurance companies will deny insurance to high-risk drivers, while others just choose to charge extremely high premiums. No matter which insurance company you choose, you will most likely end up with a high rate. However, every insurance company is different, so it is important to shop around for the best rates available.

There are many different factors that can contribute to a high-risk driver classification. However, your driving record is the most important factor in determining your risk status. If you have been involved in several accidents over the course of a year or within two to three years, these incidents will negatively affect your record even if they were not your fault. Being involved in any accident can deem you a reckless driver with a penchant for getting into dangerous situations. Also, if you have received multiple speeding tickets, you are also increasing your risk of getting into car accidents. You may be labeled a high-risk driver just by the number of speeding tickets you have received.

There are also several personal factors that contributed to the high-risk label. Unfortunately, many of these factors are beyond your control. Men are typically deemed a higher risk than women, and those who live in the city are considered higher risk than those who live in the country. If you are a city dweller, you will probably pay higher car insurance premiums than if you live in the suburbs or in a rural area. Also, drivers with newer cars are charged higher premiums than those with older automobiles.

Unfortunately, even your credit history can affect your car insurance rating. Those with low credit ratings are usually charged higher premiums than those with better credit scores. Whether or not you have been covered by car insurance continuously is also a factor. If there are gaps in your coverage, they will assume that you have had periods of uninsured driving. Because driving without insurance is very unsafe and also very illegal, insurance companies take this into consideration when considering your rate.

Though it can take several years of clean driving to erase the high-risk driver label, it can still be done. Three years is the industry standard for reassessing a drivers safety standing. If you have a clean record for a three-year period, you can work your way back to the benefits of lower premiums. However, three years worth of high premiums can really add up over time. If you are a high-risk driver, there are still ways to lower your insurance payments. With a little research, you can reduce your payments by a fair amount.

There are many car insurance companies that offer free quotes online. Rather than meeting with salespeople or playing phone tag with agents, Internet sites will give you a quote in minutes. This makes comparison-shopping easier than ever. There are even websites that will find a list of quotes for you. Sites like Netquote.com allow you to enter all of your information one time rather than repeating the process for every insurance company you investigate. Netquote will generate a list of rates organized in an easy to read fashion. This process may take a few days, but the results are typically worth it.

Working toward a clean driving record is the best way to ensure that you will get the best car insurance rates. Avoid congested areas whenever possible, and be sure to slow down in reduced speed zones. Be aware of your surroundings and never speed, and you will be on your way to a successful reduction in your rates.

According to Swiss Re, one of the worlds largest re-insurance companies, less than half of the UK population has any form of life insurance protection. They then go on to put a figure on the value of this protection gap. Using an average income of ?20,000 and assuming that the value of protection needed ranges between 5 and 10 times income, they put a value on the protection gap at ?2.3 trillion.

But in all probability, whilst the gap is huge, ?2.3 trillion is likely to be somewhat over stated. After all there are people who are disqualified from having life cover due to their age just over 1 in 5 are under 18 years old, the minimum for life cover, and 1 in 6 are effectively uninsurable as theyre over 65. Then theres a raft of persons for whom life insurance is just not necessary. These are people aged between 18 and 65 who do not have dependents. Having said that, without doubt, there are still many families in the Swiss Re survey that have been correctly identified as desperately needing life insurance.

So if they need life insurance, why do they hold back?

Undeniably there are still many people who have no understanding what life insurance provides and because they dont think about it, they dont care, and nothing ever gets done. After all life insurance isnt a fun buy theres no enjoyable window-shopping or pleasure in owning it. The chances are that unless financial advisers sit down and talks to these, theyll remain totally uninterested and uninsured.

Newspaper reporting given to the insurance industry also tends not to help. The Sunday papers in particular are regularly full of stories about one family or another that has had a claim turned down. These stories make the headlines, as behind them theres invariably a poignant tale of personal tragedy and distress. It all gives the life industry a tarnished image and creates a feeling that they cant be trusted. In practice, when you read the stories, the reason for the claim being refused often comes down to the fact that the policyholder missed off some relevant information from their application form. Nevertheless, some refusals are clearly wrong and this undoubtedly damaging.

Then there are those people who fully appreciate that they need life insurance but just cant be bothered or say they cant afford the premiums. More realistically, for many cant afford actually means, I choose not to afford. They might be happy to spend ?100 at the pub each month but are unwilling to cut back a little to pay the premium that protects their familys future.

For sure, there is no disputing the fact that some life insurance applicants have found the final quote to be genuinely unaffordable. Whilst for the majority, cover at standard premiums is affordable, over the last seven years weve seen a huge rise in the number of people who have seen the proposed premium substantially increase once the insurer has looked at their application form. Its a result of the life companies making it harder for people to meet the companys definition of healthy. Seven years ago half as many applicants were seeing the price increased as a result of the insurance companies classifying them as an above average health risk.

Even a few years ago it was usually obvious whod have difficulty getting insured at standard rates people with heart or circulatory problems, former cancer suffers and diabetics for example. How the picture has now changed. Application forms are much more detailed and medical problems that were previously acceptable are now only acceptable with a higher premium. Take weight for example these days insurers clamp down when they judge an applicants weight to be a risk to their longer-term health. And its not just the obviously obese that attract the insurers notice. Companies are now using the Body Mass Index to identify weight problems. This is your weight divided by the square of your height. Most life companies now want a BMI of no more than 29, whereas previously up to 40 was acceptable. This means that a woman weighing 83 kilos and 1.66 meter tall will now face a higher premium.

The application process can also be put some people off. Whilst about 30% of people will receive an immediate decision, for others the process can become one delay after another. As if a 14-page application were not enough, some people are being asked to complete more forms in addition to medical examinations. The whole process can take up to 9 weeks, sometimes even more, before the applicant finds out precisely how much their premium will be. If that premium works out more that they can afford, the applicant is often too tired of the whole process to start applying again to a new insurance company. The result is yet another family without life insurance.

Despite these problems, the life companies say that thanks to more sophisticated underwriting procedures, prices are lower today that they were a few years ago. The arrival of the Internet has also had a profound affect on prices. Around 10% of life insurance is bought online and discounting has become the norm. This too has helped more families to become insured.

However, in the authors view it will take more than a decade to get people covered by life insurance above the 50% level.

Can I insure a modified or classic car; who will offer insurance cover?

Yes, you can insure a modified car but because your car is a specialist car, not all auto insurance companies might be willing to provide coverage for it since it requires high price replacement parts and also skilled labor if the car is involved in an accident. Thus, you have to take a special car insurance that is designed especially for modified and classic cars.

How can I cut down my car insurance premium?

If you wish to cut down on your car insurance premium you must take care of a few things. Park your car overnight in the garage rather than leaving it on the drive. Fit insurance approved anti-theft devices; consider Third Party Fire and Theft for older cars. Find out discounts offered by the insurance provider when requesting quotes. Young drivers (under 25), who are often charged extremely high premiums, should have an extra driving course certificate.

What is excess?

It is the amount you have to pay when you make a claim for the loss or damage to your car. It can be voluntary or compulsory. If someone else causes the accident you may be able to reclaim the excess through the legal cover, which can be taken out with your car insurance policy. Otherwise you lose the excess. Voluntary excess is the amount you agree to pay to the company. It offers premium discounts. Compulsory excess is generally imposed to young drivers. Because their risk factors are high and the companies dont want to insure them. So, in order to insure, they have to surrender with this payment.

What is legal cover?

It provides expertise and assistance required to recover uninsured losses such as medical costs, loss of earnings and excess payments where the fault was not yours. It is available as an optional with most car insurance policies.

Can an insurance company cancel my auto policy?

Yes, you auto insurance policy may stand canceled if you fail to pay the premium or if your consumers license has been suspended or revoked during the term of an auto policy. Also, if there is a fraud or serious misrepresentation when completing the insurance application, if the you are convicted to a crime, or if changes are made to the property that increase the risk of loss then the company may cancel your insurance policy.

If something were to happen to you, you would want to know that your family is taken care of. With todays economy as it is, more and more people have been trying to cut corners to help save on their budgets. A penny saved is a penny earned as they say. This goes towards saving money and trying to find low cost life insurance coverage that will take care of your familys needs.
Life insurance is pretty simple these days. If you are protected and you were to pass away, your beneficiaries will be left with a cash benefit. These benefits can be used towards anything that they need to use them for. They maybe used to replace lost income, medical expenses as well as funeral expenses. There is no certain set terms that these benefits must be used for.
Life insurance cash benefits are paid out by your terms in your written Life Insurance Policy and can protect a lot of things. If your spouse is dependant on your income for retirement, it can also help to keep those plans in tact. If you have a mortgage, it can help to pay off that debit so that your family will not loose their home. Perhaps you would like for your children to go to college, or you would like to leave money behind for them. With any decisions you make, you can do exactly what you have planned ahead for.
One great thing about Life Insurance benefits is that it is usually paid out tax-free. So when you look at the amount of coverage that you want to buy, what you actually see is what you will actually get. Its nice to know before hand that there is no guess work about how much will be taken out of your spouses or loved ones death benefits.
As you can now see, Life Insurance is very flexible. It makes a lot of sense for people now days, even if they have different goals in mind.
There are two types of Life Insurances. One is Term Life Insurance and the other is called Permanent Life Insurance. Lets first explore Term Life Insurance.
Term Life Insurance is a Life Insurance that last during a certain term. These terms can be from 10, 15, 20, 25 or even 30 years. During this time, your premiums are guaranteed not to increase. If you were to pass away during this time period, then your beneficiaries get the cash death settlement benefits. If you were to live longer than the given term period, you then have the option to continue your coverage for an annual, renewable premium, which is generally much higher. You can usually convert a term Life Insurance policy to a permanent one with out getting a medical exam.
There are two big ways that Permanent Life Insurance differs. First off, the policy is meant to last the rest of your life and as long as you continue to make the required premium payments. Secondly, part of the money that you pay in with is set-aside in an account where it can grow to cash maturity. These funds can be tapped into later on during your life. There are also several different types of Permanent Life Insurances, each with different advantages as well.
Be sure to find a Life Insurance Company and Agent that best suit your familys needs. Take the time to get at least three different estimates before selecting your company. These estimates are free and most agents are more than happy to even come to your home.

Finding the right policy and the cheapest insurance cover can be a tricky process; drivers use the Internet, by telephone, read magazines, watch TV advertisement to get information on savings and offers on car insurance.

Owning and driving a car means taking on many risks to yourself and others. When a traffic accident happens, damage, injuries, loss or all of these factors may be inflicted upon you and others. Damage and loss of your property may also occur. Fire, theft, vandalism and natural disasters are other possible risks.

Car Insurance protects motorists and drivers against liability in the event of accidents they may cause. It can also provide cover for the motorists own vehicle.

Many different types of cover are available, ranging from third party cover which protects individuals against liability should they injure a third party or cause damage to a third partys property, but does not provide any cover for the individuals own vehicle or property, through to comprehensive cover, which can offer protection for accidental damage, theft, fire damage as well as liability towards third parties. The minimum legal requirement for car insurance to drive in the UK is Third Party Only.

Here are 5 steps to follow to find the cheapest deal:

STEP ONE: EXCESS
Voluntary excess the easiest way to cut your insurance premiums is to accept a higher voluntary excess. An insurers standard excess may be ?100; but if you meet the first ?250 of any claim, youll see a reduction in your premium. This is simply because you are more of the risk so you get a discount by your insurance company. This however is a gamble, insurer should be aware that they may have to meet the cost of a broken window after an attempted theft, then a bill for repairing bodywork damage after a car park crunch.

STEP TWO: SECURITY
One way to get cheaper insurance premiums is to fit a security device. Many insurers advise insurers to use Thatcham rated security equipment, usually minimum of an alarm. If you are living in a high-risk which may be known for car crime it would be useful to fit an extra security such as steering lock. This will save you money when your insurance renewal is due and gives you extra peace of mind.

STEP THREE: NAMED DRIVERS
Adding a named driver to your policy can increase or reduce your premiums depending upon the named drivers age, sex and driving record. When adding a young driver will increase your premiums, particularly with a limited or poor driving record. However, adding a driver over 30 years old with a long and clean driving record can cut premiums, particularly if the named driver is a female.

STEP FOUR: ANNUAL MILEAGE
If your annual mileage is, 5,000 miles or less, ask insurers if they offer discounts for agreed mileage restrictions, as some insurance companies do give discounts for restricted mileage. However many insurers wont offer this option as standard but will agree a discount if you ask.

STEP 5 SHOP AROUND FOR GOOD RATES
The biggest potential savings come from shopping around. This has been made much easier with the explosion of the internet. There can be massive differences between the lowest and highest car insurance quotes for exactly the same car and driver(s).

The life insurance industry is becoming tougher on smokers and those of us who are overweight.

When an insurance company calculates its premiums, it has to work out the risk of you dying whilst the policy is in force. (Or with Critical Illness Insurance, the risk that you will become critically or seriously ill during the policys term.) In this context, smoking and obesity have become increasingly important issues.

The life insurance industry pointedly ignores the views of some Pro Smoking Pressure Groups which argue that smokers under the age of 40 have around the same probability of dieing as non smokers. David Pickett, Life Insurance Manager at Sainsburys spoke for the insurance industry when he confirmed Health risks associated with smoking can have a big effect on life cover costs. It is vital for those who have kicked the habit to review their policies.

Just how big an effect smoking has on life insurance costs was highlighted in a recent snapshot study by www.express-life-insurance.co.uk. This found that the average smoker paid 56% more than a non-smoker. The study was based on nine of the UKs top insurance companies and examined the premiums quoted for two men aged 30 asking for ?100,000 cover over 25 years. The only difference between the application details was that one was a smoker and the other wasnt.

The life insurance industry has also recently tightened its belt on the overweight members of society. Previously, only people with a Body Mass Index of 33 or more were considered as overweight. This level has now been reduced by 16%. Now anyone with a BMI of 28 or more is likely to face premiums loaded by 50%. If youre anxious to know whether that includes you, youll need a calculator! BMI is calculated by dividing your weight in kilos by your height in meters and the result squared.

So if youre intending to apply for life insurance is may be as well to loose a few pounds first oops kilos and theyre much harder to lose than pounds!

Its not quite so straightforward for smokers. To qualify as a non-smoker, most insurance companies insist that you must not have smoked or otherwise consumed any form of nicotine products during the previous 12 months. Indeed, some companies go further and extend the qualifying period to 5 years!

Because premiums for smokers and chubbies are so high, it becomes even more important to seek out the cheapest possible prices. As youre an internet surfer, the odds are youll land a good discount. Just search for cheap life insurance and let your fingers do the walking!! Youll still pay more but the discount will soften the impact on the wallet. Expect online savings of 10% 15%.

Car insurance is basically insurance that drivers can purchase for any kind of vehicle in order to protect against losses sustained in traffic accidents. Auto insurance policies are, in reality, a bundle of different coverages. This insurance will usually cover the insured party, the insured motor vehicle, and any third parties involved. Different policies will identify the situations in which each of these entities is covered.

Below are the specific coverages involved when you purchase car insurance.

- Liability Insurance: Liability coverage is the most basic and foundational coverage in car insurance policies and is required in most states. This coverage ensures that if you are the one at fault in an accident, your liability insurance will pay for the physical injury and property damage expenses of any third parties involved. This coverage includes legal bills. Remember that third parties can sue you for pain and suffering damages. Minimum insurance may not sufficiently cover you in more extreme cases, which is why many people recommend that drivers purchase more than the state minimum required. Liability coverage limits are usually conveyed with three numbers. For example, liability limits of 20/50/10 indicate that there is coverage of $20,000 in bodily injury coverage per person, $50,000 in bodily injury coverage per accident, and $10,000 in property damage coverage per accident.

- Collision Coverage: In the case that you are in an accident, collision insurance will pay for the repairs that your vehicle requires. Collision coverage is usually the most expensive coverage that you will have to pay for. Insurance companies will declare a vehicle totaled or a write-off if the replacement would be cheaper than the repairs needed.

- Comprehensive Coverage: This coverage will pay for any damages to an automobile that were not caused by an accident. Qualifying damages include damages arising from carjackings, vandalism, natural disasters, and hitting an animal.

- MedPay, PIP, and No-Fault Coverages: MedPay will pay for the medical expenses of you and anyone else in your car after an accident, regardless of whose fault the accident was. PIP (Personal Injury Protection) and no-fault coverages are other forms of medical payment protection. They are broader than MedPay and may be required in certain states. These expanded coverages cover child care and lost wages.

- Uninsured and Underinsured Motorists Coverages: UM (Uninsured Motorists) coverage will pay for injuries you have sustained if you are involved in a hit-and-run by a driver who does not have auto insurance, and is mandatory in many states. UIM (Underinsured Motorists) coverage will pay for you if the driver who hit you creates more damage than their liability insurance can cover.

- Supplemental Coverages: Rental reimbursement is an add-on that will cover rented vehicles in case of damage or theft. Auto replacement coverage ensures that your automobile will be fully repaired for replaced even if the costs are more than its depreciated value. Coverage for towing and labor covers you in case of an auto failure on the road where towing is necessary. These supplemental coverages are usually offered as separate items or included in larger policies.

Lucky applicants for life insurance can be insured within 48 hours and at the premium quoted but 2 in 3 applicants are faced with delays plus the prospect of having their premium loaded.

So who are the lucky ones? Basically, youll have to be as fit as a flea with no family history of serious illness, under 45, in an office type job and probably applying for less than ?250,000 cover. For everyone else there is going to be some hassle.

When an insurer provides an initial quote for life insurance, all they know is your age, sex and smoking status. They use these details to make an initial prediction of how long you are likely to live and on that basis they give you an initial quotation. They call it their Standard Terms.

If you want to progress your application youll have a multi-page application to complete. This isnt as daunting as it may seem, as most online operators take your details over the phone and send you a copy of the completed application for you to check over. But the questions are extensive and if you miss out anything that later turns out to be significant, your insurance may well be invalidated. So be warned and take care!

The insurers use your application details to look out for anything that signals current or future concerns about your health or life style. Besides the obvious questions that reveal health problems, they also evaluate your weight, alcohol and nicotine intake, and any potentially inherited health problems. So if your father died of a heart attack or mother died from breast cancer, theyll be concerned.

Then theres your life style. If youre in a type of job where accidents do happen, construction jobs are a good example, or you are involved in any form of dangerous sport or flying, your premium is in line for loading. Theyll even want to know whether you regularly travel to countries that are known to represent health risks for visitors. And whilst the law doesnt allow discrimination against same sex relationships, the insurance companies will almost always insist on a medical for these applicants.

Insurers freely admit that the number of questions they ask is increasing. They claim its to reduce the number of claims they refuse. Whilst that may be partly true, the trend has also coincided with an increase in the proportion of applicants who are seeing their premiums loaded. Some years ago it was nearer 40% todays for some insurers the level is virtually 66%.

How much extra might you be asked to pay? Thats a bit like how long is a piece of string. But to give you a feel, a woman aged 40 receiving medical treatment for post-natal depression was recently faced with a 50% loading on an initial quotation of ?7.60. A woman whose mother had breast cancer similarly faced a 50 % loading. Seriously overweight people can also expect loadings of 50% to 100% or even refusal.

Faced with a loading what can you do? Its important to appreciate that the insurance companies giving the cheapest initial quote are also likely to have particularly choosey medical criteria. Thats how they keep their quoted prices low. So if youre faced with a loading, the best advice is shop around, Try one of the more expensive providers like Friends Provident who are sometimes a bit more lenient.

Whilst this may sound overly complicated, remember that over the years, an extra ?10 a month on a 25 year policy represents ?3,000 of your hard earned money. If you dont have the experience or time to do this, and after few of us do, speak to an online life insurance broker.

Competition is high on the Internet and online brokers will normally reduce your premium by cutting their commission. Their systems are also well versed in finding alternative providers to alleviate loading problems. So keep things simple. Let your keyboard fingers do the walking and let the online broker do all the hard work!
